Meet The Grays

We look back at the 160 years of innovation, diversification and expansion of Gray-Nicolls.

Gray-Nicolls is known worldwide and is over 160 years old. In today's post, we're taking your back in time to the very beginning of the brand.
 

1855: Founded by H.J. Gray

Henry John Gray was the World Rackets Champion in 1863. He founded Grays Rackets and a retail shop. He later expanded the brand into other sports, notably cricket and tennis.

H.G. Gray

Founded the British Sports Manufacturers Federation which established Grays as a name known for quality and innovation

1941: Expansion by H.D and Alison Gray 

Alison and H.D.  Gray took over the business and acquired several others including the world-renowned cricket bat business of L. J. Nicolls. This acquisition resulted in a renaming of the business to what you know today as Gray-Nicolls


1960: William, John and Valierie Gray

William, John and Valierie grew the business between 1960 and 2000, expanding globally and diversifying into new opportunities.

Present day: Jason, Neil, Nick, Paul and Richard Gray

Gray-Nicolls remains the choice of many of the world's finest players, and the company is still owned and controlled by the Gray family to this day. Left to right, Jason Gray, Neil Gray, Nick Gray, Paul Gray & Richard Gray.
