In 2019, we know that image – while not everything – is a lot. When choosing a bat for yourself or your child, it's crucial you select a piece of willow that reflects your personality. So if you like to look sharp, fresh and classy, we have the cricket bat for you. The Powerbow6X Academy bat is the perfect combination of performance and style, and it's time you got your hands on one.

Ever since Alastair Cook made his Test match debut with the Powerbow, it has held a special place in our heart. Players have come and gone, but this incredible cricket bat has stood the test of time and now, courtesy of the Powerbow6X Academy, will still be going strong in 2019.

Featuring its famous low middle – so favoured by front foot players, the latest incarnation has some classic features and some contemporary tweaks. It's an evolution, but one we believe will have old and new Powerbow fans purring.

The Powerbow6X Academy bat is sure to prove a hugely popular first bat for young cricketers, and for that reason, we wanted to give it the same craftsmanship as all other models in the range. What does that mean? Lightweight feel and incredible pick-up. We know that even at 2lb 1oz, a bat can feel heavy, so with the aid of feathering the toe, we have removed all weight from the very bottom of the bat and produced one of our lightest feeling bats ever.

Moreover, as first bats go, you couldn't ask for a more beautiful one that the Powerbow6X Academy. Shocks of volt green will catch the eye of all youngsters looking to stand out as they make their cricketing debuts, while the subtle white and silver stickers that live on the spine and taper towards the toe give the bat that iconic Gray-Nicolls feel.

The Powerbow6X will have an all-star user in 2018. Returning to where it all began for him, Alastair Cook is back in Powerbow as he begins life after Test cricket.

This is the culmination of a 12-month process that has seen late nights, long conversations and even more extended test sessions getting the Powerbow6X just right. Our bat makers and designers have refined and redefined the bat, with input from the likes of Indian star Karun Nair, and we proud of the result.

Made from English willow, grown and felled around Robertsbridge, East Sussex, every Powerbow6X cricket bat will be quality checked by our bat pickers in the bat cave before making its way to you.

Common Questions

How do I care for my bat?

We recommend knocking your cricket bat in before use. You may also want to add a layer of linseed oil. Store your bat in a dry place when not in use.

See our blog on how to care for your new cricket bat including tips on adding linseed oil and replacing scuff sheets here.

How do I knock my bat in?

Using an old ball in a sock or a Deluxe Bat Mallet, hit the face of your cricket bat to condition the wood. You can also hit the edges of the bat with glancing blows, and gently hit the toe. You do not need to knock in the splice (top) of the bat.
